What will happen in Taiwan?

So it seems that the government in here is in a stalemate. Everyone wants the president to resign but they can't get enough votes to take him out. Now his wife has been indicted for using government funds for personal use but she probably won't be convicted until close to 2008. The president said he would step down if she were to be convicted. But seeing as the new election is in 2008. What is the sense.

Now the opposition would like Taiwan to rejoin China. But what effect would that have on Taiwan's economy? I don't know. So right now Taiwan stands still in a stalemate. And China will not recognize Taiwan as being it's own nation. Stopping Taiwan from participating in WHO and the UN. What will happen next?

Oh and of course you have some silly foreigner in Taipei. He just arrived and he sees everyone wearing red and giving thumbs down to the president. So he says, "Ok, just join the locals" and starts wearing red and doing the same thing. When asked he said, "I didn't want anyone to be angry with me so I thought if I did the same thing it would be ok."
